European Issues

One of the main aim of UEMS is to defend and promote the interests of European medical Specialists at the European level.

In this respect, the UEMS is closely liaising with European Institutions (European Commission, European Parliament) as well as other relevant organization to raise awareness on the needs and expectations of Health professionals, namely medical specialties.

Being the largest and oldest European medical organization, the UEMS has gained significant influence on European Institutions and provides its expertise to a wide range of stakeholders.

The UEMS is involved as expert in:

  • Study on Effective Recruitment and Retention Strategies
  • Directive 2005/26/EC on Professional Qualifications
  • EU funded projects on: E-Health, Data Protection, European Reference Networks
