Dear Colleagues,
The European Commission is organising on 6th and 7th September a High-Level Conference on Employment. This event is expected to pave the way to jobs’ recovery in Europe at a particularly difficult period. In this regard, the healthcare sector is seen as one of the niches which can foster that growth.
I was personally invited to address this event in order to present the views and concerns of healthcare professionals. In our contribution to the Green Paper on the EU Health Workforce in April 2009 (UEMS 2009/07), we had already identified many of the challenges faced by our profession but we had also launched some food for thought to find adequate solutions. On Friday, I would like to expand on these in order to raise EU decision-makers’ and national governments’ awareness on that critical situation as well as on the potential for addressing it.
Together with the UEMS Enlarged Executive, I also take this opportunity to invite you all to contribute your comments or ideas on the issues that will be raised in the course of discussions on that occasion. We are convinced that there will be plenty after you will have watched the webstream!
