The UEMS is pleased to share the most recent joint position statement 📃 developed by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the  UEMS Specialist Cardiology Section on post-certification competencies and cardiovascular care delivery.

𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

We invite colleagues to explore this important contribution to the ongoing discussion on excellence in cardiology training and care delivery. 

Abstract: 

All roctors require broad-based clinical knowledge, skills, and attitudes, but no doctor can be independently competent in every aspect of clinical practice. Within cardiology, core training equips cardiologists with core cardiovascular competencies, but appropriate training, assessment, and maintenance of post-certification competencies are required for cardiologists to function as part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary Heart-Team across the full spectrum of cardiovascular practice required by our patients. The position statement describes the role of post-certifications competencies in the delivery of cardiovascular care.
