Why authenticate your certificate?
The authentication of UEMS certificates ensures the legitimacy and recognition of UEMS certificates in countries requiring such procedures. It verifies the authenticity of the certificate, providing assurance to employers, educational institutions, and relevant authorities.
This procedure certifies the authenticity of the certificate as a document. It is not a legalisation of the certification, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not legalise UEMS certificates.
How to authenticate your certificate?
The deadline date for authentication in 2024 has passed, and we are no longer accepting new applications. The next session for authentication of UEMS certificates will take place in 2025.
Procedure
Please read carefully the following procedure:
Incomplete applications will not be processed nor taken forward
- Send the original of the certificate to the UEMS Office (Ms. Amelia Donighian, UEMS, Rue de l’Industrie 24, 1040 Brussels, BELGIUM):
- Email a scanned copy of the certificate and of an identity document to coordination@uems.eu, indicating the postal address for the return of the signed document. Use "Authentication of UEMS Certificate – supporting documents" as the email subject. Provide details of the exam date and medical specialty.
- The UEMS Office will verify exam results with exam organisers and arrange a meeting with the notary to sign confirmed certificates.
- Once signed, original certificates will be returned to the fellow/owner of the certificate or their duly mandated representatives.
Documents are to be sent at the latest by the deadline date fixed upon the opening of new applications.
The administrative fee for this procedure is 150€, with sending costs in addition being borne by the candidate. Specify whether regular mail (up to 15€) or courier (70€) is preferred for return shipment.
After the certificate is signed, an invoice will be issued, and payment by bank transfer will be requested. Upon receipt of payment, the document will be returned.
The meeting with the notary only confirms the document's authenticity.
