The next meeting of the UEMS Council will be held on 18th and 19th October 2012 in Larnaca, Cyprus.
On 16th July 2012, Ms Bernadette Vergnaud, (France, S&D), as EP rapporteur on that dossier, released her report on the European Commission’s proposal to revise the Directive on the Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications (2005/36/EC).
Health Priorities As of 1st July 2012, Cyrpus is taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Together with the two other countries of the Trio (Poland and Denmark) the Cypriot Government has established a program covering seven priority areas and actions that it will support in the Health sector
Ahead of the European Summit of June (28-29), leading Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) joined a broad coalition of organisations, among which the UEMS, warning European leaders to act urgently to prevent Europe from a health crisis.
On 20th and 21st June 2012, partners of the EU-funded project MOMENTUM met in the framework of the Arctic Light e-He@lth Conference 2012 in Luleå in Norrbotten (Sweden). These meetings notably discussed existing telemedicine services and how these could pave the way to further implementation of telemedicine into daily routine care.
Following its adoption on 19 June the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 520/2012 on the performance of pharmacovigilance activities has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
On World Blood Donor day, under this year's motto of "Every blood donor is a hero", the European Commission stresses the importance of safe blood supplies and encourages all European citizens to join the ranks of responsible voluntary donors.
